Abstract: The purpose of this article is to consider problem of the origin and history of the icon of the Three-handed Theotokos icon. Comparing different literary works and folklore sources, the author traces several versions of the origin of the icon, and motive the appearance of silver hands, which gives the opportunity to re-raise the issue of the silver hand, and disappointing to say: from the point of view of ancient Serbian, Macedonian (indirectly of Greek and Arabic) literature, history of the icon is so complicated that to unravel this tangle is also layered on top of each other legends is not currently possible.
