Biblical plots in Old Russian literature, ex. ed. A.S. Demin. Moscow, IWL RAS Publ., 2014. 384 p. (In Russ.)

Abstract: The book is a collection of articles on the use of biblical scenes in Russian literature and social thought of 11th – early 18th centuries. In the collection, the authors use two semantic approaches to the biblical motifs in old Russian literature. The first is the interpretation of the Bible’s plots themselves, which are included in the text of the work not in their original form, but as a hidden idea, or modified by the creative concept of the old Russian author. The second is an attempt to trace how the use of the plots and characters of the Bible help the Old Russian author to more fully and vividly characterize the unbiblical characters.

The book is written primarily to prepared readers - medieval scholars, university professors, graduate students and philology students.
