Abstract: The article is devoted to the study of Old Russian monas-tic literature (monastic charters, wills of monasteries founders, testaments, letters, monitories, messages and other writings of monks) for the purpose of determining the availability of practical and everyday piety, commanded to disciples and followers, namely of such a feature as charity.
