Abstract: The book explores Russian epistolary of the 17^th–18^th centuries. Revealed the specificity of certain groups of seventeenth century letters, discusses the letters of Peter’s time, allows to detect the peculiarities of literary development in the ‘transition period’, the analysis of epistolary and poetic system of the eighteenth century.
