The article contains some polemical remarks to the interpretation of the opening part of Daniil Zatochnik’s “Word”/“Prayer” as proposed by I.N. Danilevsky. Using the term introduced by R. Picchio I.N. Danilevsky considers the opening part of the composition as a “biblical thematic clue”. The researcher tries “to reconstruct the meaning of one particular fragment more accurately”, and he searches for the “contextual memory” of quotations and allusions used by Daniil Zatochnik. The method that was applied by I.N. Danilevsky is objectionable. Besides, one can note some incorrect practices of the academic polemics in the researcher’s reasoning.
