1939-1941
1945-1947

In September 1938, the first Academic Senate of the A.M. Gorky Institute of World Literature was formed and then approved by the Presidium of Academy of Sciences of the Soviet Union, and a year later, in September 1939, the Section of Old Russian Literature and Literature of the 18th Century was created and existed until 1947. The initiator of the creation and its first head was DSc in Philology, professor, since 1945, the academician of the Academy of Sciences of the UkrSSR Nikolai K. Gudziy (1887–1965). In IWL, in addition to leading the section of Old Russian literature,
N.K. Gudziy headed from 1945 to 1952 the department of Russian literature. In 1947, the section of Old Russian literature joined this department.

1955

The Group of Old Russian Literature was formed within the department of Russian classical literature. The initiator of its creation and the first leader was N.K. Gudziy, his idea was supported by V.P. Adrianova-Peretz (1888–1972) and D.S. Likhachov (1906–1996). In addition to N.K. Gudziy, the group included Vera D. Kuzmina and Olga A. Derzhavina (1901–1985). Over time, the group included Andrei N. Robinson (1917–1993) and Vasily P. Grebenyuk (born in 1903).
In the framework of the group’s work came out the monographs of the staff and two volumes of the “Materials of Research on Old Russian Literature” were published.

1965

The head of the group becomes a DSc in Philology
Vera D. Kuzmina (1908–1968).
The first work of V.D. Kuzmina in IWL was involved in the collective work “Literature of 10th–18th centuries.” She was the initiator of a multivolume series of works “Studies and Materials on Old Russian Literature” and “Early Russian Drama (17th – the first half of the 18th century).”

 
1969

Andrei N. Robinson (1917–1993), DSc in Philology, professor, becomes the group leader. The group includes Anatoly S. Demin (born in 1935) and Anna S. Eleonskaya (born in 1918).

1972–1976

The five-volume series of “Early Russian drama is published

1978–1982

The collective work in four volumes “Russian Old Printed Literature. 16th – the first quarter of the 18th centuries” is published.


1988

The group becomes a Sector within the department of Russian classical literature.
The sector is headed by Anatoly S. Demin.

Begins regular work “All-Moscow Workshop of Researchers of Old Russia”, on the basis of which the Society of Researchers of Old Russia later emerges. A collective monograph “The Tale of Igor’s Campaign: Comprehensive studies” is published.

1989

The scientific almanac “Hermeneutics of Old Russian Literature” begins to be published.

1991

Collective work “Old Russian Literature: Society Image”

1992

The sector of Old Russian literature in the Department of Russian classical literature becomes an independent Department of Old Russian literature, and later the Department of Old Slavic literatures

1995

Collective work “Old Russian Literature: Image of Nature and Man”
